Time log of the trip. As events are unfolding. Mostly for us, but if you find it interesting dig in. [09:30] Wake up, shower.[09:50] Hotel in Kochi replied. They will get a cab from the airport to their place, but can give us the room we requested only for two days. For third day we can get the room with attached bathroom. OK let's see?[10:00] Breakfast.[10:45] At the room. Checking expenses and what we did so far.[11:13] Packing up since we're flying to Kochi today.[12:03] Checking out in the lobby.[12:10] At the lobby planning the trip for the day. Itโs packed as was at the breakfast. Makes sense since itโs Friday.[12:25] Dropping our bags at the ground floor. Was little wired since we just dropped them off next to a wall. Super fancy hotel but some stuff are just wired or letโs say India style. They are really trying though.[12:30] On the way to Madras literary society. Got a ricksha for 150 INR pretty quickly near the main rode. If you need one just walk.[12:45] Ok we can't get in since there's a recording in progress you have to announce your visit the day before (Yes we're not too good at planning ๐ ). Took a few photos.=> It's really wired how you have a really old building and then the surrounding area is just a mess. [12:58] Stepped out to the street and got another ricksha to Madras high court in a minute for 200 INR for 20-min drive.[13:04] And we are on a gas station. Our driver paid 400 INR to fill the tank. So yeah we are sitting on a bomb ๐[13:07] And we are off driving fast ๐บ ๐จ [13:20] At high court. We tried to walk in and were stopped ๐ No no sir. ๐ฅฒ[13:23] Notary outside on the street:[13:26] Agents of Shield car:Yes they exist in India ๐ค[13:32] Got a ricksha for 200 INR. For another 20-min drive back to our hotel.[13:37] Plank on a motorbike:[13:52] At hotel. Picked the bags. To toilet and then to airport. Flight is at 17:45.[13:55] Trying to check in and loosing my shit. They noticed so the lobby boss told me: "Go to the business centre sir, on computer it will be easier." He was right.[14:00] Ok. At the business centre behind PC with Windows ๐[14:16] Managed to check us in. Now I donโt have boarding passes.[14:22] Got the boarding passes.[14:25] Off to the train station.[14:34] On train station. For both of us 80 INR to the airport. Damn did we overpay because we arrived in the middle of the night for the taxi. 1500 INR vs 80 ...[14:35] OK each train station has a security check. Train is here. But pretty empty.[14:51] Jerca has to be in the lady's carriage:[14:54] So with rickshas you can move really quickly across the city for rather low price. Paying with NLB card in rupees is the cheapest option. And yes we got two ricksha and train for a price of one bottle of sparkling water at the hotel. Also the Kochi hotel confirmed our stay for 3 nights with bathroom. No ac though. Let's see. But I do think weโre getting the hang of it. The India thingy I mean. But yeah itโs dirty and loud (Not the metro though.) as people said, but so much stuff is happening ๐คฏ. [14:56] At airport.[15:08] Pre-departure security check of passports. We havenโt even entered the terminal building yet.[15;10] OK after the elevator another security check ๐[15:13] At terminal. Drinking water before going through security.[15:17] Airport is really empty:[15:25] To security, they really have a tone of staff and some systems are really wired. But they are pretty effective and fast, it feels like that whole India is one giant prototyping experiment, and they are iterating super-fast.[15:37] Through security, I take it back. For some stuff they are slow.[15:38] Ok they will check Jerca's bag.[15:50] We found a south Indian restaurant at the airport. Half of the restaurant is a business lounge ๐ [16:00] Ordered cheese dosa and Thulli idli. One tea and coffe:[16:37] Finished eating.[16:40] Paid. Yup we got black coffee instead of tea. Threw 300 INR away. Waiter actually understood us black coffee, ...[16:55] At the gate. Smart water from wending machine is 60 INR but at the vendor stand next to its 120 INR. On the street 1l was 20 INR. Market ...[17:06] OK. Gate change from 6 to 15. Without any announcement. Of we are ๐โ๐จ [17:11] At the gate.[17:25] Boarding. But its chaos. Boarding zone 1. No clue. Ok we wait.[17:40] At the plane. Interesting flight of stairs:[17:46] In the seat.[18:00] Off we go on time. They have a German dude for the COO of the IndiGo. Ok I smell of spices already ๐[18:22] Pretty chill. Looks like weโll be on time.[19:00] Landed.[19:06] And we are squeezing. People are a bit pushy and chaotic. With a spirit. [19:17] At baggage claim. They have an exchange. Let's see. It looks shady. We got a good exchange rate 7700 INR for 100 dollars. 6x200 and 13x500 bills. Jerca got 0,5L of water inside the airport for 40 INR.[19:20] Found the driver from the Green Woods Bethlehem hotel. Go 3l of water for 60 INR ๐คฆโ Should have looked more closely through the airport window at the shop across the street.[19:25] Off we go. It will take 1:20 for 2000 rupees plus 100 INR for parking. Car is brand new, but it looks like the ones we had in Slovenia 15 years ago. Not a critic, just a different world. [20:14] At Lulu market. One of the largest stores in India.[20:20] Saw an ambulance going in opposite direction on the road due to heavy traffic. "Yes, yes this is normal here." ๐ [20:50] Hosts son dropped us off. I messed up that he's a driver.[21:02] They showed us around the place. Itโs pretty mystical and nice amidst all this chaos. They gave us a lot of tips what to do and where in Kochi and Fort Kochi.[21:40] At the room. Unpacking and dinner. What we still had with us since there really wasn't any time to get food today:Yup this is the shower ๐ You pour the hot water to the big bucket, the add cold water and then use the green one to shower. And the water just flows out through a hole in the wall behind the toilet. Luckily we had flip-flops. [22:10] Checking the rest of itinerary for this trip.[23:00] Resolving an internal fight. But we're good now. India is testing us.[23:40] Shower time.[00:30] Trying to sleep. Without too much success. There were no sheets and only one blanket and AC was on full capacity so it felt like we were in the fridge. If you turned AC off it was humid as hell in about an hour. Luckily we had the sleeping cocoons with us. Oh and we later realised that there were no windows in the room but just a sort of mesh behind the curtains. No shit it became hot so fast.
