πŸ”¬ Life Experiment 7, 2021

Hey There.

As I wrote last week, I moved to the Slovenian's mountainside.

I've spent most of the week settling into my new home and adjusting to the new views.

At some point, I took the break from coding and:

I immediately took the camera out and took the shoot. Sometimes it pays off to look out of the window πŸ™‚

It's not a sunset by the sea, but it's a way better view than the fogy version of the capital city.

πŸ”¬ Weekly experiment 6, 2021

This whole last week has been one giant experiment.

Every habit has to be reset:

  • Where do I sleep, read, write?
  • How I shower?
  • How I cook?
  • Where do I go for a run, walk?
  • Where do I exercise?
  • How do I do the lightning (windows, lamps, ...) for the video calls?
  • Where do I store the laundry?
  • Where do I charge my phone, tablet, laptop and other electronics?
  • Where do I place my keys and wallet?
  • Where do I shop?
  • How do I warm-up, ventilate the place?

The amount of will power that goes up in flames for all those tiny changes is insane. But it's also pretty exciting to start with the clean slate. You get to reset certain habits and restart them in a completely new way.

Until I managed to sort things up a bit, I was pretty anxious due to the crap lying everywhere.

I often brag how I'm a minimalist. Well ...

I have a few things leftβ€”similar story one floor higher. But I'm making the situation manageable with one small change a day.

I've spent most of the week rearranging my stuff into a liveable apartment. The initial setup is done, and the body is starting to recover.

Now the Tetris begins. It will take me around nine months to find the perfect apartment configuration based on past experience. We'll see. Maybe I'll finish the apartment setup faster. You do learn a thing or two if you move every other year.

I love that I finally have more than one room to spend my time in. Last four apartments were pretty dull on that front.

After a week, the place is starting to feel homey. I will see how I feel about driving to work each weekday once the Corona is over, but for now, it's pretty cool πŸ™‚

Few other observations:

  • Maybe I'm overplanning things in my life a little too much πŸ™‚
  • I've been forced to triage each day in the past week. It's so exciting but also exhausting.
  • As a result of daily triage, I didn't write that much throughout the day. But I did take the time to reflect on the day each evening.
  • I'm starting to see the benefits of hanging with other creators on my content quality. Mostly in terms of verity.

I'm curious to hear what you experimented with in the last week πŸ˜‰

Reading material

I recently came over a quote:

"Most successful people don't read a book a week."

I've been putting myself under pressure regarding the reading habit lately.

I like to read, but I'm noticing that I'm not in the mood to read books daily. The book obsession is becoming a bit unhealthy, so I decided to read when I feel like it.

If I read, I read. Screw the pressure.

Few notes on my personal brand building:

Maybe some of you find them useful.

And a YouTube video by Ali Abdaal: Why write? . If you're not convinced that writing is a habit, you should be practising.

Don't forget to experiment and cheers till the next experiment.
